10 Something Old Ideas for your Wedding

Photo via Pinterest

Something old is symbolic continuity of the bride's family. It is meant to represent the bride's past as she embarks on her new future. The item can come from the parents or grandparents from either the bride or the groom's side. Other family members and friends might have an something old item for the bride as well. If the old item is also borrowed for the occasion, it can serve a dual purpose as her something old and borrowed.

Since many brides struggle with the something old for their big day, I've come up with a list of several ideas for this wedding tradition.

1. Old lace handkerchief placed placed in a purse or wrapped around the bridal bouquet.

2. Heirloom jewelry to wear like an engagement ring or wedding band, a brooch, earrings, a bracelet, a necklace, or some sparkly hair pins. Or you can tuck an antique hat pin into the bride's bouquet.

5. Wear a locket containing old family photos around your neck on the big day or you can display wedding photographs of parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents at the reception. You can also carry a wedding photo of parents' or grandparents' in the bride's purse (it can be copied to reduce the size if necessary)

6. Take some of mother's or grandmother's wedding gown fabric or lace (or your father's or grandfather's dress shirt) and sew it inside the bride's gown or to her petticoat or have it turned into a bridal purse or ring pillow.

  5. Definitely, the logistics of your wedding day will determine your personal transportation needs. Consider all the scenarios before hiring a classic limousine for your wedding. If your wedding falls within prom or graduation season, arrange your wedding transportation as soon as possible to be safe. Make sure that time is very important factors, so try to book your classic limousine in advance.
