{Daily Wedding Bits} Tips for Wedding Dress Shopping

Finding your wedding dress for the first time can be a bit confusing and you may have several questions about it. I've been reading around the internet on advice to keep in mind as you shop for your wedding gown. Here are some of the important tips to remember.

TIP#1: Make a scheduled appointment.
Make sure to call ahead and make a scheduled visit to the bridal salon you are planning to visit. Most prefer appointments and some do fill their slots a couple weeks out, especially on weekends.

TIP#2: Research.
Before your bridal salon appointment, do some research on what you'd like your wedding dress would be. Researching is very important since it will guide you on choosing your dream wedding gown for you to wear and where you should buy it in a short time. Bring pictures from magazines or websites to show and give the sales associate. Find out what wedding dress shapes and designs suits you and what you should avoid. It's also a good idea to learn some wedding dress terms so you can describe what you do and do not like.

TIP#3: Bring your strapless bra and shoes.
It’s a good idea to bring a strapless bra and the shoes you will be wearing on the wedding day (or shoes of a similar height) to wear while trying on dresses. Often bridal shops have them available to borrow, but they have been worn by so many people, that it's more appealing to bring your own.

TIP#4: Bring a friend.
When you go shopping for your dress, bring someone along. Someone you can trust who will say and make an honest judgment if a dress looks good on you. If you're confident about your choice, then go buy it. Just try not to bring any more than two people - you're going to end up with too many different viewpoints, which can get confusing for you.

TIP#5: Know your budget.
Before rushing in into a bridal shop, make sure you can afford it. With those wonderful and magnificent dresses right in front of you, it's really easy to get carried away so be sure to remember how much you're willing to spend.
