DIY Wedding Project - Words on Wood

Beautiful statement isn’t it? I think I fell in love with the words more than the craft. Anyway, I thought this vintage-style sign would make a great idea for an outdoor wedding. It’s really easy to do and you can make this sign in two different ways. You can visit elmstreetlife.com or A Graceful Life for this project. Personally, I’d chose the one over at elmstreetlife.com coz it sounds easier.

Supplies and Materials Needed:
  • A piece of wood or plaque
  • Black Paint
  • Paper and Computer/Printer (to create your selected design outline)
  • Pencil
  • Paint Maker
  • Sand Paper
  • Waterbase sealer (like Mod Podge)
Direction:
  1. Paint your piece of wood or plaque with black paint. Let it dry.
  2. Print out on paper the letters or design you’d like on the wood.
  3. With a pencil, shade the back side of the letters.
  4. Position your lettering onto the sign and tape it down.
  5. With a pen, press down and trace around the outline of the design so it shows up unto the wood.
  6. Take a paint maker and fill in the lettering. You can make several coats as needed.
  7. Once dry, sand the design a bit to make it look more vintage and old. Then take a wet paper towel to clean it up a bit.
  8. Finish off the sign by painting it with a water based sealer to seal it and to give it a little shine.
  9. Once dry, you’re done!

Head on over to elmstreetlife.com for the complete tutorial of this amazing project!

  1. Thanks so much for the shout out to my blog!
Personally though, I think my project was a little easier since it required no effort or talent whatsoever! :)

    Thank you again!
